Essential oils are advantageous for your day to day life once you realize the possibilities. Essential oils were the "medicines" of the ancient days as in Biblical times. What amazed us was that If you research the Bible you will find over 1,000 references to essential oils, plants and their applications. There are at least 33 species mentioned in the Bible alone.
Essential oils were used in all cultures of ancient times not just with the Biblical characters that we have easy access to read about. I encourage you to do your own research. There is more information on the Biblical Oils page.
What we have come to realize in a new way today, is how effective essential oils can be for us again today as we relearn what our ancestors knew thousands of years ago. Young Living Essential Oils Purity and Quality: A Unique Distillation Process
Even slight variations in essential oil distillation can result in a dramatic reduction of quality. That’s why after extensive research of modern and ancient distillation techniques, Young Living developed a specialized process that uses extremely low pressure and low temperatures. Young Living’s specially designed vertical distilleries are constructed of food-grade, nonferrous stainless steel that doesn’t react with essential oils the way other metals do. Once harvested, Young Living plants are properly placed and compressed in distilling chambers. Then, softened, purified steam rises through the fresh herbs, releasing the essential oils into the vapor. Long tubes extending from the top of the steel chamber allow the vapor to condense back into oil-infused water.The water, which contains the essential oil, collects into glass separating chambers. Here, the essential oil floats upward and collects on top of the water. Once the oil separates from the water, any solids precipitate and settle. The oil is then poured into large, glass-lined containers or dark glass bottles.

You might be wondering why we focused on the essential oils (i.e. the plant's life blood) of the plants, leaves, bark or stems. Basically it becomes a matter of dilution rates. Many common plants have a concentration of 1%-2% of essential oils in their leaves, etc. So if we chewed on a lot of the specific plant we would get a whole lot of fiber, but only a minimal essential oil benefit. Then you also have some plants that have a super low concentration of its essential oil. For example it literally takes 5,000 lbs of rose peddles to produce 1 lb of Rose essential oil. But the upside is one drop of Rose oil will work as a concentrated fragrance or as an agent of healing.
When the parts of the plants are distilled to extract the essential oils we get easily functional essentials oils to use. The essential oils pass through our skin and into our body's various systems to assist in reworking all of our internal systems to their original state as designed by God. There are several undoubtedly interesting and informative books available on the chemistry and associated information about the various plants, and what the "Ancients" used them for and how they can help us today in our daily lives.
Young Living will only process the essential oils in a manner that will not deform the essential oil as it is found in the plant. Rushing the distilling process by heat or high pressures or synthesizing the plant leads to oils that do not hold the desired properties. The process must not alter the essential oils in any way or they will not assist the body as they were designed by God. Essential oils produced by living plants are living oils. Those produced or modified by man, are lifeless. The chemical makeup maybe similar from the real to modified, but our body somehow knows the difference. The energy or frequency of the original plant is only in the true essential oil that has any lasting effect on the body. An imitation copy will never have the desired results.

DO NOT confuse Young Living essential oils with the commonly available "Aromatherapy" oils these other "oils" are often only 1% to 5% concentration of the named essential oil. Many times the other 95% to 99% of additive chemicals take away from the slight benefit that the product may have had. The result is a negative effect to an overall body.
